Yes, my first name is the same as my last name; please call me Lou. I’m a compassionate and straightforward therapist dedicated to empowering adults, couples, and families on their journeys toward self-discovery and healing. I strive to create an environment of full acceptance, where you can feel understood and safely be yourself. As a collaborative therapist, I’m here to navigate the complexities of trauma, anxiety, and depression with you every step of the way. Also, I’m comfortable with profanity and understand that authentic expression is often a part of our reality - it's certainly a part of mine! My work emphasizes self-love, healthy boundaries, and personal growth, helping you cultivate fulfilling relationships, including one with yourself.
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy from Adler Graduate School. My undergraduate studies in Gender and Sexuality Studies have provided me with a strong foundation in understanding diverse identities and the importance of social justice in therapeutic practice. Currently, I am pursuing my licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in Alaska while also working toward my board certification in Art Therapy (ATR-BC). I have my provisional Art Therapy license (ATR-P) and aim to integrate eco-friendly practices into my sessions, reflecting my commitment to sustainability and holistic well-being. While I incorporate art therapy as a valuable tool for self-exploration, you don’t need to be creative to benefit from it; I’m also trained in traditional talk therapy and can adapt our sessions to suit your needs.
As an entirely teletherapy therapist, I offer online sessions due to my own physical health concerns. I work well with clients who may also need accommodations and those grappling with the grief that comes with various life losses, such as the loss of a future due to illness. I believe that all forms of loss are significant, and grief deserves a dedicated space for exploration and healing. I invite you to connect with me via email for the best communication, and you can also learn more about me on my website. Together, we can navigate your unique experiences, empowering you to heal and build a greater sense of confidence in yourself and your relationships.
