Miranda McCarty is from Cordova, Alaska, a small town renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich fishing heritage. Growing up in the commercial fishing industry, Miranda developed a deep appreciation for nature, resilience, and a strong work ethic—qualities that continue to shape her approach to both her personal and professional life. The challenges and camaraderie of the fishing community instilled in her the importance of adaptability and teamwork, which she draws upon as a therapist.
Miranda’s academic journey reflects her commitment to understanding and addressing complex health issues. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Dietetics, a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Innovation, and a Master of Science in Social Work. Specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for co-occurring disorders, Miranda focuses on individuals facing multiple challenges, including eating disorders, substance use issues, and neurodiversity. Her expertise in DBT allows her to provide clients with vital skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—essential tools for navigating the complexities of recovery.

She recognizes that neurodivergent individuals may face unique challenges in traditional therapeutic settings and tailors her approach to meet their specific needs. By utilizing a combination of creative strategies, sensory integration techniques, and individualized support, she creates an inclusive environment where neurodiverse clients feel valued and understood. Miranda is dedicated to promoting acceptance and self-advocacy, helping clients harness their strengths to navigate the world with confidence.

She creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals can openly share their struggles and experiences. Her ability to connect on a personal level, combined with her extensive knowledge of various therapeutic modalities, allows her to provide tailored support that resonates with each client. Miranda’s sessions often incorporate mindfulness practices and creative expression, which serve to enhance emotional awareness and promote healing.
When she’s not working, Miranda enjoys engaging in creative activities with her child, fostering their imagination through playing dress-up, dolls, and storytelling. She finds joy and relaxation in playing the piano, making jewelry and water color painting, which serve as outlets for her creativity and self-expression. Miranda also loves skiing and biking, embracing the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness and sharing adventures with her child.
Her personal interests reflect her belief in the healing power of creativity and nature, and she strives to instill these values in her clients.
